June 28, 2004:
Your
I.Q.
Interview
with Andy Williams author of the book, How
Do You Compare
Mike
Carruthers:
Can you make yourself smarter? Well, if by smarter you mean
your IQ, then probably not.
Andy
Williams:
It's believed that I.Q. is fairly fixed after the
first five years of life.
Psychologist
Andy Williams author of the book
How Do You Compare says there are some interesting things
about your I.Q. you may not know.
There
is a great study that shows if you were are big baby then you
probably have a higher I.Q. Now a study done just a couple years
ago determined that for every pound of birth weight that you
weighed when you were born your I.Q. became over two points
higher. It is also found that taller children tend to be more
intelligent. Taking to account variables like birth order, family
size, family income, race and that type of thing tall children
tend to have a higher I.Q.
Although
these things are statistically true Andrew says no one's really
quite sure why.
Now husbands and wives tend to have the same I.Q. and the reason
for that is known.
A study
from the University of Cambridge sought to find out why this
happened. Well, the answer is people just tend to choose partners
with a similar I.Q. to their own.
Oh, and
if you're planning to take an I.Q. test and would like to bump
up your score a bit…
There
is a testing study that shows that individuals that chew a piece
of gum for a few minutes and then take an intelligence test
had a spike in intelligence that measured on the test.
